Installing new front wheel bearings?

Postby kaptaink on Wed Jun 30, 2010 3:37 pm

I feel like a dummy. I can't figure out how to remove what's left of my broken front wheel bearing so I can install a new one. Looks like they are just pounded in? How do I remove the old one's so can replace them?
thanks!

Okay, I WAS a dummy. A little penetrating oil, a hammer and a punch did the job quite easily. Time to ride!

Sometimes only the outer race is left and you have to grind a lip in the inside of the race so the punch has something to grab. I'm glad you got it out - The only thing worse than not having the correct part or tool is not being able to replace the bad part with the new one you have on hand.
